Melanotan I is a synthetic analog of α-MSH designed to bind melanocortin receptors, particularly MC1R. It is primarily studied for its role in melanin synthesis, UV response, and pigmentation pathways in vitro. Research focuses also include its signaling effects in skin cell models.
